Mission:  Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestras’ mission is to provide a 
high quality youth orchestra experience to students living in Northwest Florida.  The orchestra program strives to create a culture of community, collaboration, 
and cultivation by ensuring that each member has an empowering 
musical experience through participation in the orchestras.

Youth Orchestra

The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra program is the premier training orchestra 
in Northwest Florida and consists of more than sixty students who 
participate in a variety of ensembles that perform throughout the 
school year, led by Music Director Aaron King Vaughn.

Symphony Orchestra
• Intermediate to advanced
• Middle & High School Students
• Strings, Winds, Brass, Percussion

Sinfonietta Strings
• Beginning String Students
• All Ages

Benefits of SYO membership include:

• SYO members and their immediate families receive complimentary 
     tickets to all main season concerts.

• SYO members benefit from small group mentoring multiple times a 
     semester with experienced sectional instructors for individual instruments.
• High school students can earn Bright Futures volunteer hours by participating in
     additional opportunities to play for community groups as well as by volunteering 
     as ushers at Sinfonia main season concerts.

• Seniors have the opportunity to apply for the Grace Fulcher Memorial Scholarship, 
     created in memory and honor of Grace Bernice Fulcher.

Music Director, Sinfonia Youth Orchestras

Aaron King Vaughn is an exciting and versatile emerging American conductor. Recently appointed as assistant conductor of Florida’s  Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Vaughn was also named a  2019 Chicago Sinfonietta Project Inclusion Freeman Conducting Fellow, has been invited  to the PRISMA Conducting Fellowship, the International Institute for Conductors, and was an assistant conductor finalist for the National Repertory Orchestra. Notably, he was also a finalist for the Philharmonic’s Society Orange County Youth Symphony music director position in California.  


Under the direction of Dr. Alexander Jiménez, Vaughn completed a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at the Florida State University. During his time at Florida State, he served as assistant conductor of the acclaimed University Symphony Orchestra, the University Philharmonia, and served as music director of the Campus Orchestra.  Other conductor mentors include Mei Ann Chen, André Thomas, Darko Butorac, Troy Peters, Adam Flatt, and Paul Bryan.  

Vaughn is concurrently serving as music director and conductor of the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestras and coordinates the organization’s music education and community engagement initiatives.
