Dr. Thomas Roggio enjoys a versatile career as a conductor, violinist, and educator. He currently serves as Graduate Assistant Conductor of FSU Orchestras, studying under Alexander Jiménez. Dr. Roggio has attended the Mostly Modern Festival and participated in masterclasses with JoAnn Falletta, David Amado, and Andrew Crust. He is also the Music Director of the Studio Orchestra Society at FSU, an ensemble dedicated to performing music from film and video games.
As a violinist, Dr. Roggio has performed with professional ensembles, including the Tallahassee Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Panama City Symphony, and Tallahassee Bach Parley. With a passion for new music, Dr. Roggio was a violin fellow with The Next Festival of Emerging Artists and performed premieres by composers Leilehua Lanzilotti, Curtis Stewart, Yvette Young, and Peter Askim. Outside of performing, Dr. Roggio is a dedicated educator and teaches a vibrant studio of violin and viola students in Tallahassee, FL. He holds degrees from Florida State University, Bowling Green State University, and SUNY Fredonia. His principal teachers have included Benjamin Sung, Caroline Chin, and Maureen Yuen.
