A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Margaret Gordon is pleased to be returning to the Gulf Coast to give back to the community that fostered her musical ability as a child. As a former student in the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra, she feels honored to lead others in realizing their musical gifts and nurturing the foundational skills needed to create the next generation of musicians.
Gordon has maintained a string and piano studio and teaches all ages. She specializes in the beginning string student and focuses on a positive approach to teaching that instills a sense of pride and self-efficacy in her students. Her personal approach to teaching allows her students to be curious about their progress and develop the skills necessary to become self-sufficient. Her emphasis on teamwork and collaboration makes her an empathetic listener when directing ensembles.
In addition to directing the youth orchestras, Gordon is eager to promote music education in the surrounding counties and believes that music is an experience that all have the right to partake in regardless of their circumstances.
Gordon received a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the University of West Florida and a Master of Music in Performance at Appalachian State University. Her primary instrument is viola.
